The Associate in Criminal Justice program at Trine University is designed for those who are seeking an entry-level position in emergency preparedness fields. The Master of Science in Criminal Justice at Trine University is an online program designed for those who wish to move into leadership roles in the industry. About Trine University

In 1884, The Tri-State Normal College, created by the residents of Angola, Indiana, opened in the Commerce Building, the first facility built on the campus. The name of the school recognized the “tri-state area” of Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. Initially, the school was designed to prepare educators but, in 1902, the School of Engineering, recognized today as one of the best in the country, was established. This led the school to reorganize in 1906 to Tri-State College. It gained university status in 1975.

In 2008, in honor of Dr. Ralph Trine and his wife, Sheri, the school was renamed Trine University. The Trine’s supported numerous initiatives on campus, including the T. Furth Center for the Performing Arts, Books and Beyond Scholarships as well as the annual scholarship gala. The couple recently secured and donated two buildings to the University valued at $600,000. Ralph Trine is an alumnus of Trine University and his wife has been on the board of trustees since 2007. Both hold honorary doctorates from the school. The Trine’s own Vestil Manufacturing Company, a third-generation family-owned and operated manufacturer of industrial material handling equipment.

Today, there are over 5,100 students enrolled at Trine University and more than 99 percent of graduates are employed or in graduate school within six months of graduation.

Trine University Accreditation Details

Trine University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. This indicates that the school meets or exceeds criteria the Commission developed which demonstrates excellence in higher education. The school agrees to undergo periodic evaluation to confirm that students enrolled continue to receive the highest level of education and to address any areas identified as needing improvement. Trine University Application Requirements

Applicants to the associate or bachelor’s degree program in Criminal Justice must provide official high school transcripts along with official ACT or SAT scores. Applicants who have completed Advanced Placement programs and scored a three or higher on the test may be granted credit for that course. Applicants who have earned college credit after high school graduation must also submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.

Applicant to the Master of Criminal Justice must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. They must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. An essay that explains why the applicant wants to attend graduate school, their future career endeavors and how they plan to succeed in graduate school must be provided along with a current resume.

Trine University Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition for the Associate or Bachelor in Criminal Justice programs is $399 per credit hour. Active duty military members pay $250 per credit hour. Tuition for the Master of Science in Criminal Justice is $565 per credit hour.

Financial aid is available with the average award given totaling $33,100. More than 98 percent of the students at Trine University receive financial aid. Financial aid may be given in the form of grants, scholarships or loans. Undergraduate students attending on campus may be offered work-study programs. Graduate students are offered loans to cover the cost of education although students may seek grants and scholarships from other sources. All students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
