About Bellevue University
Bellevue University originated in 1883 when the Presbyterian Synod of Nebraska settled Old Elk Hill 16 years after statehood for Bellevue College. By 1903, it developed a 250-acre, nine-building Sarpy County campus outside Omaha that’s on the National Register of Historic Places. Damaged by a 1908 tornado, it kept classes going by expanding to Offutt Air Force Base, which constructed the famed Enola Gay. In 1966, today’s Bellevue University officially acquired the campus for adult education.

Bellevue University Accreditation Details
On October 22, 2018, Bellevue University submitted the Fifth-Year Interim Report for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (HLC-NCA) to evaluate performance and keep Level V accreditation valid through 2024 under its fourth president, Dr. Mary Hawkins, an American Council on Education fellow. Headquartered 474 miles east via Interstate 88 in Chicago, this gigantic 19-state Great Plains Region accreditor is authorized by the U.S. Education Department to assess the merits of Bellevue’s 56 undergrad and 28 post-grad offerings from McCook to Fairchild AFB and online. Since April 8, 2003, Bellevue University has been accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) with an A+ rating. Management courses were also reaffirmed by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) in May 2018.
Bellevue University Application Requirements
Studying with Bellevue University Online is classified “selective” by the U.S. News & World Report since 2,629 of the 5,400 Fall 2017 applicants were okayed for 49 percent acceptance. First-year Bruins seeking the Emergency Management BS must graduate from approved high schools or reach the 580 GED Test minimum. Cumulative GPAs above 2.0 are preferred, but grade specifics aren’t listed. Accelerated cohort-based majors like the Security Management BS mandate an accredited associate degree. Concluding 60 semester or 90 quarter credits scored “C-” or higher would qualify. Residency requirements stipulate that transfers have at least 30 credits, including 12 upper-level major credits, remaining. Non-U.S. residents often take the Test of English as a Foreign Language for 530 pBT or 71 iBT scores. The 45 exempt countries include Canada, Australia, India, Belize, Pakistan, and Great Britain. International learners must show sufficient funds surpassing $31,668 too. Master’s entrants typically must achieve overall 2.5 GPAs or greater during four-year baccalaureates. The Master of Public Administration accepts nine graduate transfer credits above 3.0 GPAs. Taking the Graduate Record Exam or its GMAT equivalent is voluntary.
Bellevue University has ongoing admission deadlines year-round to begin the New BRUIN Academy. However, foreign students currently must file required documents by June 27th for Fall, September 26th for Winter, January 2nd for Spring, and April 3rd for Summer terms.
